Ghana joined the list of African nations pursuing extraterrestrial research when the GhanaSat-1 satelite was launched in 2017 in conjuction with NASA in the US and the Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan.
The other nations in Africa that have launched satelites are Egypt, South Africa, Algeria, Nigeria, Morocco, Sudan, Ethiopia, Angola, Kenya, Rwanda, and Mauritius. Examples of things space agencies do include research into navigation technology, the construction of satellites and probes, as well as the construction of sounding rockets to take measurements of space and collect data.
